14 Years Of Commitment To Excellent Education @August 04, 2015

Fourteen years  of excellent service, of bringing more than just  good education, of    building lives into becoming morally and upright individuals.  As an academic institution built upon the ideals of spirituality, integrity and excellence, JMC continues to soar and is making waves in the academic community. With its founding president Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy leading it, JMC has been blessed with 14 glorious years and is gearing towards global excellence in the 21st century.

Every year when the month of August comes, it’s always the tradition of the JMARIANS to celebrate the Founding Anniversary of the Jose Maria College to commemorate the day when that   one man’s vision began to change the lives of hundreds of youth, and to give honour to the continued success of the institution in providing Assured, Consistent, and Quality Education.

The 2015 theme  captivates the institution’s commitment and dedication to provide a kind of education that focuses not only on academic excellence but also on spirituality and values.

This year’s  celebration was well -supplied with vitalizing and entrancing events such as the grand opening ceremonies which were  graced by  School Directress Ms. Ingrid C. Canada, and other administrative officials.  Hosted by Anna Sotto and Jayson Rubrico,  BA in  Communication  students, the opening blast,  indeed, enthralled  the spectators, students and parents alike as the preschoolers wiggled and sizzled with fun in their special presentation.

Sonshine Media Network International, an affiliate company of Jose Maria College, owned and operated by its CEO and President Pastor Apollo, covered the weeklong celebration and broadcast it worldwide. This is the competitive advantage of JMC over other schools and colleges. Through its owned media network, the nation and the world can have a glimpse of its rise to dominance in the academic world.

Due to the increase of student population, the KJC Cathedral was  jam-packed with students who were categorized into teams. The College department itself ballooned into thousands in the Academic Year 2015-2016 that  the venue could hardly contain all the participants.  Team Cyber Lions  was composed of students from BSIT and BSCS courses; the Sphinx  which fought its best in various competitions to topple all adversaries was composed of students  from  the BSCE and the BSA  programs; the Raging Phoenix  which  also competed with vigour and optimism came  from  the  Education and BSSW courses;  the Eagles composed of  students from the BSBA program fought hard to defend the title, and  the Red Sparrows,  from BA in Mass Communication, BA in English, BS in Psychology and BS in Criminology programs,   believed that “winning means a great moment”  at JMC.

Among the highlights during the opening ceremonies were the parade of participants;  the lighting of the urn which symbolized the limitless potentials  of individuals and how the spirit of young people could be used as a driving force to attain unity, harmony and peace; and the singing of the foundation theme “World in our Hands,” which tells about  doing one's best and defying the impossible.  The song also signifies the power that can change the world and as  JMarians, they believe that they  have that power  to become beacons of light for all the world to see.

Other events that made the week-long celebration significant and special were the Cheer Dance Competition in the College Department and the Cultural  Dance Competition in the secondary level.

JMC does not only equip its students with the academic abilities to succeed, it also provides avenues to promote enthusiasm and the  spirit of sportsmanship.  This year, it offered  a range of sports and activities, combining physical development and exercises with competition and enjoyment.  Sports enthusiasts rolled up their sleeves and battled  neck to neck in both indoor and outdoor games.

Participation with fellow students is an important part of the student’s experience. The literary and musical showdown  also  provided  an avenue for students to show off their talents in different fields.  The contestants participated in the different literary events  like essay writing;  oration where the students  had the chance to speak their minds; dramatic monologue where you could see a display of overwhelming flexibility of  artistic skills; smart talking where the challengers’ brainpower was gauged with their knowledge of the country’s various current social and political issues;  poem recitation and speech choir competitions,  and the most anticipated The Great JMarian Challenge, a quiz show that showcased the students' mental agility.

Wit and talents were also showcased as the preschoolers took the stage and wowed the audience during the Search for Little Mr. And Ms. JMC. It was a fun, friendly competition, designed to both celebrate talented kids and encourage them to realize their creative potential on stage. The parents believed that the event was giving the children  a positive experience for it helped them enhance their talents, gave them confidence and extra boost when they performed  on stage.  It was a good platform to show them what can be achieved with hard work and dedication.

The weeklong celebration ended with a grand closing and awarding ceremonies where deserving winners were honoured and recognized.  The Fearless Eagle s were hailed as the grand champion in the College category while the high school seniors bagged the grand award in the secondary level.
