Adapting to the needs of the time and in response to the clamour of students and parents for an asynchronous mode of learning delivery to ease worries about the risk of COVID 19 infection, the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs announced the temporary shift to online and self-paced mode of learning in its Memorandum No. 20 s. 2020.
“In order to ensure inclusive education and accommodate all learners, a flexible and multimodal approach shall be adopted for the coming school year, Vice President for Academic Affairs Josefina D. Ortega stipulates in a memorandum which was circulated to all heads of department in the institution.
Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the school is moving on with zeal and flexibility as it continues to provide Assured, Consistent and Quality education to all.
In response to the growing demand for courses in the medical field, the school opens for academic year 2020-2021 the Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology (BS Medical Laboratory Science). The online enrolment for this course is currently ongoing. Interested applicants are welcome to register online at www.jmc.edu.ph. A 20% discount on tuition fee awaits the first fifty (50) enrolees in the course.
The school is also already on its second year of its offering Doctor of Medicine. Online enrolment for which is likewise ongoing. A 15% discount on tuition fee is also available to the early fifty (50) freshmen enrolees. The College of Medicine will begin the first semester classes in on August 17, 2020.
Another post baccalaureate course being offered by Jose Maria College is the Doctor of Jurisprudence (Juris Doctor). This course is formerly the Bachelor of Laws but was migrated to its new name Juris Doctor by the Legal Education Board Memorandum No. 19 s. 2018. In its Resolution No. 2019-406 entitled A Resolution Setting the Graduate Level Degree Equivalency of the Basic Law Course, the Legal Education Board (LEB) sets the Basic Law Degree as equivalent to Doctoral degrees for purposes of appointment/employment, ranking and compensation. Classes for Juris Doctor degree will start on June 29, 2020.
Bachelor in Secondary Education major in Filipino is also a new course offering in the College of Teacher Education (CTE) making it an addition to the other courses already offered by the college which are; Bachelor in Secondary Education with major in English and Mathematics and Bachelor in Elementary Education (BEED).
Among the existing courses offered are the following: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering major Structural Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering major in in Construction Engineering and Management, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Financial Management, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major Marketing Management and Human Resources Management , Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting, Bachelor of Science in Criminology, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Bachelor of Science in Social Work. The various programs in the College Department will start classes on August 17, 2020.
On another hand, the school’s Integrated Basic Education curriculum also includes Robotics which provides students basic knowledge on design and construction of useful machines (robots) to perform simple tasks. Classes in the Integrated Basic Education begins on August 3, 2020.
There is also the availability of a wide range of Technical Vocational courses duly certified by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, namely 309 hours Computer Systems Servicing NC II, 786 Hours Caregiving NC II, 611 Hours Massage Therapy NC II and 1,025 hours Healthcare Services NC II. Earning a National Certification II (NC) opens a wide range of career opportunities both here and abroad. JMC’s Technical Vocational course graduates consistently earns a 100% pass rate in NC II.
