About 2000 runners came to compete during the 3rd Edition of the Urban Forest 2025, a run for a cause sponsored by the Sonshine Radio Network DXRB held at Davao People’s Park on September 12, 2016.
The race had three categories namely 1.5K, 3K and 5K.
Sonshine Radio Sales and Marketing Officer Grace Trinidad said that the three year-old racing event is the advocacy of the founder of the Sonshine Philippine Movement (SPM) Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy as he envisions to adopt poor communities in the city and transforms them into livable child friendly communities equipped with parks, forest and community centers for the young and old by 2025.
She added that the eco-run seeks to generate resources from the proceeds of the event for the restoration of the country’s damaged natural canopies brought by deforestation and other means of environmental degradation.
The activity started at 5:00 in the morning at Peoples Park and ended at the Victoria Plaza in J.P. Laurel Avenue.
The Founding President is hoping to see more and more participants in the coming race as he is optimistic with his vision to restore the earth, save the trees, impact people’s lives and mitigate climate change by replicating the pristine beauty of the Glory Mountain not just in the country but also across the globe.
