JMCFI and  Davao City Alliance for Out of School Youth Development team up to empower Out of School Youths

Davao City, Philippines – Uniting to further promote Out of School Youth Development in Davao City, the Jose Maria College Foundation Inc. (JMC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Davao City Alliance for Out of School Youth Development (DCAOSYD) today, Saturday, February 24, 2023.

The MOU signing was attended by officials from both institutions as witnesses to the agreement. Dr. Felix C. Chavez, Jr., representing JMCFI, and Ms. Cherrylin Casuga, Chair of DCAOSYD, signed on behalf of their respective organizations. Also present were Isagani Busque, Youth Development Coordinator of the USAID Opportunity 2.0 program, Mr. Basser Lagayan, DCAOSYD Private Sector Coordinator, and Ms. Mary Joy Arroyo, DCAOSYD Youth Development Officer.

The Davao City Alliance for Out of School Youth Development is a Local Government Unit-led multi-sectoral youth inclusive body for youth leadership on Out of School Youth Education, skills engagement, and empowerment. This alliance aims to bring together different agencies in the private and public sectors to create programs and share resources for the best interest of out-of-school youths.

The Davao City Alliance for Out of School Youth Development Council was created on December 2, 2022, under the City Government of Davao Executive order no. 72 s. 2022 signed by Davao City Mayor Sebastian Z. Duterte.

The MOU signing is a step towards realizing the visions of both institutions. The agreement between JMC and DCAOSYD is expected to create opportunities for out-of-school youths in Davao City to improve their education, skills, and employability.

Dr. Felix C. Chavez, Jr. expressed his optimism about the partnership, saying, “This partnership will provide a platform for us to collaborate with DCAOSYD in supporting the development of out-of-school youths in Davao City. We believe that education is a key to success, and we are committed to providing opportunities for those who have not had access to it.”

Ms. Cherrylin Casuga, Chair of DCAOSYD, expressed her gratitude to JMC for their commitment to the cause, saying, “We are grateful to JMC for partnering with us in our efforts to provide opportunities for out-of-school youths in Davao City. We are confident that this partnership will bring positive change and help us achieve our goals.”

The MOU signing is a testament to the commitment of both JMC and DCAOSYD to make a positive impact on the lives of out-of-school youths in Davao City.
