School reports 0 injury, casualty; no structural damage found

All safe and sound. This is the general observation from the school and emergency-response bureau after conducting a post-event inspection within the Jose Maria College Foundation, Inc. (JMCFI) premises, following the recent occurrence of a 7.6 magnitude earthquake in the metro.

According to the JMCFI Safety and Security Office, no major structural damages were recorded, and all students, faculty, and staff were safely evacuated during the tremor. The quick response of the school’s emergency team, along with the cooperation of the campus community, ensured that the evacuation procedures were carried out efficiently and without panic.

From the Office of the Vice President for Administration, Dr. Roland Suico, it was confirmed that no injuries or casualties were recorded within the JMCFI campus during the earthquake this morning, October 10, 2025.

“All students, faculty, and personnel were safely and promptly evacuated in accordance with established emergency protocols,” Dr. Suico stated.

He added that initial inspections conducted by the JMCFI Safety Officers and Engineering Team, in coordination with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), have found no structural damage to any buildings or facilities.

“The safety and well-being of our academic community remain our top priority. Please stay tuned for further announcements regarding the resumption of normal operations once all safety assessments are fully completed,” Dr. Suico concluded.

The Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DCDRRMO) likewise confirmed that the institution remains safe for occupancy pending final evaluations. In line with the city government’s advisory, classes and on-campus activities remain suspended until further notice.
