JMCFI earns AUN-QA Certification for 4 academic programs

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Jose Maria College Foundation, Inc. (JMCFI) has achieved a significant academic milestone as four of its undergraduate programs received certification from the ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) on July 20, 2025.

The programs granted the prestigious certification are:

• Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA)

Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English (BSEd-English)

Bachelor of Science in Psychology (BSP)

Bachelor of Science in Criminology (BSC)

Vice President for Institutional Affairs, Dr. Josefina D. Ortega, receives the physical certificates from the accrediting body.

This recognition comes after a rigorous quality assessment conducted by international AUN-QA assessors, who visited the campus on March 4–6, 2025. During the site visit, they engaged with various stakeholders including faculty members, students, alumni, and industry partners to evaluate the programs’ compliance with regional education standards.

The AUN-QA certification signifies that JMCFI’s programs meet the benchmarks set by the ASEAN University Network for quality education, curriculum excellence, and academic outcomes.

It also reflects the institution’s commitment to providing globally competitive education and fostering continuous improvement.

The AUN-QA system is a collaborative initiative among Southeast Asian universities to harmonize academic standards and strengthen educational quality assurance in the region.

JMCFI became an associate member of the AUN-QA in 2023.

School officials expressed pride in the achievement and reaffirmed their dedication to delivering quality education that meets both national and international benchmarks.

“The very essence of submitting JMCFI in AUN-QA Assessment is to ensure alignment of our academic standards with the ASEAN region higher education institutions, whose endeavor is continuous quality improvement, focusing on instruction excellence,” said Josefina D. Ortega, the Vice President for Institutional Affairs, as she emphasized that “the assessment feedback is our basis for continuous improvement”.

This significant accomplishment was initiated under the leadership of former President, Dr. Felix C. Chavez, Jr., whose strategic vision laid the groundwork for quality assurance processes in the institution. The achievement comes to fruition under the stewardship of the current President, Dr. Jose Maria S.E. Gonzales, whose continued commitment to educational excellence steers JMCFI toward greater regional and global recognition.

This institutional achievement also honors the long-held vision of Founding President, Rev. Dr. Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy, who dreamed of building a higher education institution that upholds academic integrity, excellence, and nation-building with global relevance.
