Ms. Bacon: ‘Free blood typing initiated to conjoin with PAMET’

The Free Blood Typing activity of the MT/MLS Program of JMC was initiated as a testament that we conjoin with PAMET and all the MedTech professionals nationwide in the celebration of Medical Technology Week“, said Ms. Queen Jane M. Bacon, RMT, MSMT, the program head of the Medical Laboratory Science/ Medical Technology.

This is in line with the Philippine Association of Medical Technologists, Inc. (PAMET) in its celebration of its 55th anniversary with the theme, “Sustaining Excellence, Inspiring the Future.” Akin to this, the 47th Medical Technology Week Celebration Opening Ceremonies kickstarted last September 16 at the National Reference Laboratory – East Avenue Medical Center, Quezon City.

To be in consonance with PAMET, the Coalesced Organization of Medical Technologists (COMETS), in its local capacity and initiative, administered the Free ABO Blood Typing Activity to celebrate the advancement and contribution of Medical Technology in the area of healthcare.

This event also places at high spot [sic] how integral it is to know one’s blood type, especially during emergency cases. However, we have emphasized that the result our clients have received during the activity shall not supersede the protocol of Blood Typing in healthcare institutions“, Ms. Bacon added.

The Philippines celebrates Med Tech Week every 3rd week of September under Presidential Proclamation 1181 established on September 6, 1973.

PAMET is the only PRC-Accredited Professional Organization (APO) for Medical Technologists.
